On the way to St Kilda a couple of years ago, our small ship stopped at the uninhabited Monach Islands, off the west coast of the Outer Hebrides. On a beautiful deserted sandy beach I came across a rusty old fishing float. I left it there. But I took away the memory, some photos, and the inspiration for this sculpture.
