I constructed the wood pattern for Apsara in two parts, head and column. Seeing them lying separately in my studio, both parts suggested the beginnings of new sculptures. On the column section, I developed this new piece, a more grounded form.
Has the small ball-shape just landed, creating disruption? Or is it erupting from the main body, perhaps the germ of something else new if it falls and lands on fertile ground?
